How to Support Libraries in 2025

Because Librarians Need YOU!

Hello all! This is the Ghost Writer, and I’m back again to write about libraries. More specifically, I’m here to elaborate on what they do, and how you, yes, YOU, in particular, can help them achieve their mission!

Why You Should Support Your Local Library

Want to increase how much you know about ghosts or other creatures of the night? Visit your local library! You’ll be sure to find some excellent books on those subjects there!

Aside from being the best place so start your journey into the supernatural realm, public libraries are anchors in their communities that serve multiple purposes. They provide free resources like books, meeting spaces, educational materials, and sometimes even internet hot spots that patrons can take home.

Libraries are also one of the few places where you can sit for hours without spending a dime. These incredible institutions can only stay afloat with your support. A library is publicly funded, which means that your tax dollars keep them running.

You might be surprised, though, at how small a percentage of your taxes go to your local library.

Of course, there are things you can do outside of paying your taxes to make sure that your library is receiving proper funding in order to pay library staff a fair wage, update amenities, and provide new programs for the community. Let’s take a look at a few of those options.

How You Can Support Your Local Library

There are lots of ways that you can show your support for your library! One such strategy is to reach out to your legislators. Give your elected officials a call or even write a letter to tell them how invaluable your local library is to the community.

If you would like to be a bit more hands on, sign up to volunteer! Volunteers provide a great service to librarians, and you could find yourself doing anything from re-stocking book shelves to helping run a program.

This is a wonderful way to become active within your community and meet other like-minded library lovers!
